The 1963 Volkswagen 1200 Beetle made famous as No. 53 "Herbie" is one of the most recognizable movie cars of all time. Starring in Disney’s The Love Bug and its sequels, Herbie's racing theme transformed the humble Beetle into a beloved automotive icon with a personality of its own.
Powered by Volkswagen’s dependable rear-mounted 1. 2-liter air-cooled flat-four engine, the Beetle was already known for its simplicity and reliability. What truly set Herbie apart from every other movie car was the combination of timeless Volkswagen engineering and a charming fictional character that captured the hearts of generations, making the No. 53 Beetle one of the most famous automobiles in film history.
